Lynsey Cleland appointed as Chief Standards Officer

Following a successful recruitment process, Lynsey Cleland has joined the GPhC on 9 June 2025 as our new Chief Standards Officer, for a fixed term of one year.

In the first part of her career, Lynsey worked as a pharmacist, but is no longer on the pharmacist register. Lynsey has previously served in a number of senior roles at the GPhC, including as Director for Scotland for several years. Since leaving the GPhC in 2019, Lynsey has held a series of senior executive roles within the Scottish health and care system, most recently as Director of Quality Assurance and Regulation at Healthcare Improvement Scotland. 

Lynsey brings a wealth of regulatory, system leadership and public assurance experience, alongside a strong personal commitment to inclusive, person-centred care.

As Chief Standards Officer, Lynsey will be responsible for overseeing a broad and impactful portfolio across a range of teams, including pharmacy education and training, pharmacy policy and standards, regulation reform, EDI, and external communications.
